Refuge Pastors

Senior Pastors – Bo and Khristie Johnson

Bo and Khristie Johnson founded Living Word Church (now Refuge) in April 2004.
Bo and Khristie have been married for over 31 years and have 4 children. Both are graduates of Hewitt Trussville High School. Bo has a Bachelors degree in Theology from Life Christian University in Tampa, FL and a Masters & Doctorate from Omega Bible Institute & Seminary in Monroe, LA.  Khristie has a degree in elementary education from Athens State University in Athens, AL. Together they have served in many of areas of ministry since 1994.
Bo and Khristie, along with the Refuge community, have a heart to reach the lost, the unchurched, and those who have reached a place of frustration and feel that the church is no longer relevant. They both believe that to be effective in the community, you must be involved. Bo serves the City of Clay as a Councilman, and is active in the local Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the Park Board for the City of Clay, as well as coaching soccer and softball in the local youth leagues. Khristie is part of a weekly Community Bible Study group and also involved with a local home school group. Bo and Khristie believe that we must be involved to be available to people and responsive to their needs.
